Softphone & operator tools

The desktop app includes a built-in SIP softphone, so operators can take and place calls without a separate phone or browser WebRTC. It uses your existing extension and makes no changes to your PBX.

How credentials are provisioned

When you sign in, the app asks your Astervis server for the SIP profile that belongs to your extension (the phone set on your operator account). The server reads it from the PBX through the installer agent and returns only your own credentials — you can never request someone else's. If your extension uses a hashed secret that can't be read back, the app lets you enter the SIP password manually.

Requirements: your operator account must have an extension, and the app needs to reach the PBX over SIP (UDP 5060) and RTP. Operators on the same network as the PBX work out of the box; remote operators may need STUN/ICE configured.

Making calls

• Dialpad — type or paste a number and call.
• Click-to-call — dial text selected in any application with a global hotkey.
• Incoming / outgoing — answer or reject, with a screen-pop that brings the relevant contact or deal forward.
• In call — hold, mute, and send DTMF tones from the keypad.
• Recents — redial recent calls in one click.

Native superpowers

• Global hotkeys for answer / hang-up / mute / dial-from-clipboard.
• An always-on-top mini call card (picture-in-picture) so the call stays visible while you work in other windows.
• astervis://call/<number> deep links — start a call from anywhere.
• A tray icon with presence.

Operator status & queues

Set your status from the status bar — available, away, lunch, or do-not-disturb. Changing status pauses or unpauses you in your queues (recorded in the PBX queue log, so it flows into your Astervis analytics). You can also join or leave queues directly from the app.

Open-line notifications

When a new message arrives on an open line and the app isn't focused, you get a native OS notification. Click it to jump straight to the conversation.
