Desktop App

Desktop App

Native Astervis desktop client for Windows, macOS and Linux — with a built-in softphone, operator tools and notifications.

Astervis Desktop is a native application that wraps your Astervis admin in a desktop shell and adds capabilities a browser can't provide: a built-in softphone, operator status controls, native open-line notifications, and automatic updates.

It is not a separate product — it connects to your own on-premise Astervis server (the same address you open the admin at). The dashboard you see is served live by your deployment, so its version always matches your server.

What it adds over the browser

  • Built-in softphone — make and receive calls from the app itself, using your existing extension. No changes to your PBX. See Softphone & operator tools.
  • Operator tools — set your status (available, away, lunch, do-not-disturb) and join or leave queues without leaving the call screen.
  • Open-line notifications — get a native OS notification the moment a new message lands on an open line, even when the window is in the background.
  • Native superpowers — global hotkeys, dial a number selected in any app, screen-pop on incoming calls, an always-on-top call card, and a tray icon.
  • Auto-update — the app updates itself in the background, so you always run the latest.

How it is structured

The app opens two windows that work together:

  • a shell window — local, native UI for settings, the softphone and the tray;
  • an admin window — loads your live deployment (https://<your-server>), so login, permissions and every admin feature work exactly as they do in the browser.

Download & install

Download the installer for your platform from astervis.io/download:

PlatformFile
Windows.exe installer
macOS.dmg (universal — Intel & Apple Silicon)
Linux.AppImage
  • Windows — run the .exe and follow the installer.
  • macOS — open the .dmg and drag Astervis Desktop into Applications.
  • Linux — make the .AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it.

First run

On first launch, enter your Astervis server address — the same URL you use to open the admin (for example https://pbx.yourcompany.com). The app remembers it (stored securely in your OS keychain) and loads your dashboard. To point the app at a different server later, open Settings in the shell window.

Updates

Astervis Desktop checks for updates automatically and installs them in the background. There is nothing to do manually — when prompted, restart the app to finish an update.
